The Embiara Lodge is a great little lodge in the South Pantanal in Brazil. The owners Paul and Tina Grol are extremely friendly and the hospitality is superb. There are two private lodges and they are very luxurious and are adorned with photos that Paul has taken. He is a keen photographer himself and will show you the best places to take photos. The accomodation overlooks a field in which you can sometime see Giant Anteater and Pecarries. Parrots and Macaws are also present in the surrounding trees. It is less than 5 minutes to a private little river and you can take a trip on a boat with an electric motor which hardly makes any noise. The first time we went down to the river we saw a family of giant otters straight away. There is also an opportunity to Kayak down the river. Other activities include driving safaris, the first time we went on one we saw a giant anteater with a baby on her back. As we were upwind of her we managed to get to within about 5m. It was amazing. We also went horse riding and hiking. This place is an amazing place to stay and I would really recommend it.
You can find more information about this accomodation on their website at http://www.embiara.com/

This review sounds to me like and add, an subjective appraisal to a friend’s place or even your own. It doesn’t really give us a view undistorted by emotion or personal bias.
Sorry for my honesty.
Off course you’re entitled to think that. The fact is we were made to feel very welcome there. Basically we were the only guests and the owners Paul and Tina took us on the excursions. As you eat with them as well we got to know them really well. We did stay for 5 days after all and shared similar interests(photography, wildlife). In a way you could say it is an apraissal of a friends place as when we left we felt as if we had made new friends. However the fact still remains that we had never met them before our trip so I believe there is no bias in me writing this review.
